Statement of Intent

The audience for my image set is "foodies"; I intend for the audience to want to eat and gain inspiration from the food featured in my images. Food photographer Kris Kirkham has inspired me to create images based on bread, after seeing his work for large brands such Costa and M&S Food, whilst my clean yet rustic styling is inspired by Murielle Banackissa, who I really admire.

These six photographs from the food genre and are genre specific; depicting a clear narrative illustrating bread and the ways it can be enjoyed, both on its own and with other ingredients to create delicious dishes and snacks. It starts with a fresh sourdough loaf in the morning and ends with a bread and butter pudding for dessert after dinner, with breakfast, lunch and nibbles in between.

Images are captured throughout the day, coinciding with different mealtimes, from overhead, straight on and 45-degree angle perspectives, in both portrait and landscape. This, together with authentically styled images, achieves a set of visually appealing shots that enhance the appearance, and convey the deliciousness of the bread. Bread is my chosen subject because it is a staple that is inexpensive and accessible to most people. The wide variety, versatility, and fantastic taste of bread, both on its own and paired with other ingredients, make it a great and tasty subject to photograph.
